ISO 22000 is a worldwide accepted standard for food safety. ISO 22000 offers the unique possibility of raising food safety to a higher plane, throughout the chain. ISO 22000 follows the structure and approach employed by ISO 9001, while integrating food safety on the basis of HACCP.
The ISO 22000 standard is not only suitable for organisations producing, trading in or supplying foodstuffs, but also suppliers, cold storage warehouses, transport companies, machine builders and producers of packaging materials.
The requirements imposed by the ISO 22000 standard on the food safety management system include the following elements:
